What is the Body Project?
The Body Project is a healthy bodies initiative to support & encourage members with their health, weight & fitness goals. Developed as a result of our 6 Week Weight Loss Challenge, we recognised that members needed additional support after each Round to maintain or continue to lose weight. The regular weigh in, the online support and the accountability gave people that extra push they needed to stay focused and consistent in their weight loss efforts.
The Body Project is not just about losing weight however. We all know that the number on the scale is just one factor in feeling healthy & looking amazing. The Body Project is about the entire body. It's about maintaining the focus & consistency to make it as effective as we know it can be!
The problem with traditional weight loss programs...Traditional weight loss programs focus on losing weight and reaching that magic number at the end. All too often though, the completion of a weight loss program signals a return to poor eating habits and lack of exercise...and so begins a cycle of highs and lows as you reach your goal weight, then slowly (or quickly) creep back up again. It's emotionally exhausting and rarely sets you up for long term success. When it comes to your health and weight there really shouldn't be an end game in sight. We know that may sound overwhelming to many people but until you can accept that healthy eating & exercise will need to be a part of your life permanently, you will always struggle to be at your optimum health.
At The Body Project, we believe in treating the body, and all of the possibilities that lie within it, as a challenge and a rewarding experience that we go on throughout our entire lives. We have experienced first hand how additional support and encouragement helps people to change negative habits and turn their lives around. Doing this as part of a collective group of like-minded individuals is a key factor to success. |
Why is it a Project?
Anyone who has tried to lose weight, get in shape or make any kind of meaningful change to their body, will know that it isn't a short term thing. It's something you need to focus on as part of your everyday lifestyle. Our bodies and our health are a constant work-in-progress. At no point can you sit back and say you are done. It's always evolving. Always changing.
So we like to think of the body as a project. A project that is constantly being tweaked, improved, altered, pampered, admired, strengthened and adapted, to suit our environment, lifestyle and age. It's a project you should always strive to excel at. It should be your greatest work of art and your most finely tuned vehicle. It's the only body you've got...after all. |
So how does it work?
Weekly Weigh In
Each week, The Body Project team members will weigh in at the gym on either a Monday evening from 6.30-7.00pm or a Tuesday morning from 10.00-10.30am. This is a crucial part of the project as it keeps people accountable and assists greatly in achieving positive results. Although weight isn't the only factor in being healthy, it is the most easily measured indicator and provides a general gauge for success. The simple act of coming in to the gym and having someone check on your progress is a proven factor in keeping people focused and consistent. Privacy between the team is very important as we understand that this may be a sensitive topic for some people.
Online Tracker
The results from each weekly weigh in will be entered into our online tracker within the members only area of the website. Results will not show team members actual weight, but will show weekly losses or gains. This is nothing to be scared of however and at no point will your weight be shared amongst the team. Everyone fluctuates and has good and bad weeks. It's all part of the process and we are here to support you every step of the way.
Support & Encouragement
To assist you to stay focused and motivated we will provide online support in the form of a weekly email and access to our Facebook Group exclusively for The Body Project team members. This will be a forum where you can talk with other people in the project and where we can provide additional advice, tips and inspiration to keep you on track.
How much does it cost?
As we believe that long term health & weight maintenance comes from changing your lifestyle permanently, we have made The Body Project extremely affordable. We want to see people joining us on an ongoing basis. Making the commitment to their health and putting themselves at the top of the priority list. A small investment of just $5.99 a week is the price of a coffee, which you could easily stop having in preference of better health & vitality.
$5.99 per week includes a weekly weigh in, online tracking & online support including tips, advice & motivation. A great way to keep you focused and on track.
Payment is via direct debit only.
